Quizzes, Certificates and Reviews for Every Course

Courses have had lessons and progress tracking since the start. What they lacked was any way to tell whether the progress meant anything.
A Quiz You Have to Pass
Lessons can now end with a short quiz. Where a lesson has one, that is how the lesson is completed: you pass it, with two thirds of the answers right, or it stays unfinished. The Mark complete button is for lessons without one.
Anyone who can read the lesson can take the quiz, including a free preview lesson, and every answer comes back with an explanation of why it is the answer. If you are signed in, your attempts are kept, so you can see what you got wrong later rather than only in the moment.
A Certificate at the End
Finishing the last lesson of a course issues a certificate. It lives at a public address, so it can be linked from a profile or sent to somebody who asks, and it carries the course, the learner and the date.
The code is issued once and does not change. If you undo a lesson the certificate stops resolving — the course is no longer finished, and it would be dishonest to keep serving it — and finishing again brings back the same code rather than minting a new one.
Reviews, From People Who Took the Course
Every course taught here can now be rated from one to five stars with a few words about why. Only learners who are enrolled can leave one, and posting again edits the review you already left rather than stacking up another.
The average shows on the course card and the course page, and the catalogue can be sorted by it. Courses run by other providers cannot be reviewed here, because we are not the ones teaching them.
